The year 2021 marked 100 years since the passing of Abbas Effendi, the eldest son and appointed successor of Baháʼu'lláh. He lived in banishment in the Haifa-Akko area from 1868 until He passed away. He serves as the example of the personification of the teachings of the Baháʼí Faith.
On 3 January 2022, the Baháʼí World Centre hosted a special reception in Haifa to honour the life and legacy of Abbas Effendi. Known also by his title, ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, Abbas Effendi is remembered and respected for His promotion of service to humanity and unity in diversity.
